June 1, 2006 Meeting

Unable to vote any issues due to not having at least two officers present.

Chris:    The website is up and running now.  We now have an online guest book.  Also we have a new server with added features, more items, and added capabilities.

Dog Park:    Discussed the next demonstration dog park originally scheduled for August 26th.  “Paws in the Park” was re-scheduled for September 23rd so talked about not having one in August.  Talked about having it at Chiawana for water access, heat issues or Howard Amon Park, near hotel, very shadey.  Maybe have an evening one.  Need to have next one somewhere other than Richland because of the road construction.

Advertising:  Talked about having an informational postcard to mail or hand out.

Petition Status:   Now have 1028 signatures and in only a year.

Size Stds:   Discussed having minimum size for children in demonstration dog park – 12 years old and/or 4ft tall – City of Kennewick will set the final standards and rules for their permanent site

New Equipment:    Still need posts, post pounders, gloves, ties, pooper scooper Audrey will contact potential donors for materials.

Private Park?:    Sharon Watson (West Richland Vet) talked about a private dog park on her property off of Van Giesen.  Public vs Private??  Donations??  Mike will ask Sharon about this at upcoming vet visit

Donated Art:   Discussed Richland and Kennewick Arts Commission possibly donating art/sculptures for the dog park.  Mike will draft a letter of request.

Events:

• September 9th – Harvest festival booth?
• Benton County Fair – Possible booth??
• Paws in the Park
• Presentation at  Richland Parks and Rec meeting??
